FLATTENING THE CURVE: This refers to the idea that protective measures, like isolation and social distancing, can help delay the number of cases and give hospitals time to prepare and manage for incoming patients. A high curve means there are lots of cases coming in at once whereas a flattened curve means they come in over time. It’s the difference between someone having a bed at the hospital or being treated in the parking lot tent.
